Salary: Commensurate with experience, qualifications

One of our clients a well-known food industry leader is currently searching for a Research and Development Manager to be responsible for leading and managing several projects simultaneously coupled with the ability to act as R&D technical leader to a cross-functional team.

We are looking for someone with a combination of strong technical and leadership skill.

Must have the ability to develop prototypes, evaluate ingredients and optimize formulas for quality, performance, consumer liking and profitability in the lab, plant, manufacturing facilities and co-packers.

Must be able to identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities.

Progresses projects from conceptualization through commercialization and make well-reasoned trade-offs between timelines, resources and overall business needs.

Supports and provides guidance to operations/engineering organizations on evaluation of new production opportunities, improving existing operations, cost saving ideas and troubleshooting of major problems.

Builds support for ideas within the teams and assists in influencing the development of business/technical strategies

Monitor new products trends/competitive trend and activities

Provides management with fully developed technical plans, including resource requirements and risk assessments


Post- secondary education Food Science or related discipline
Seven (7+) plus years� experience in the Food industry with demonstrated application of food chemistry principles in the development of innovative new products
Strong working knowledge of processing equipment/unit operations, ingredients process interactions, statistical/analytical techniques and scale-up
Strong leadership skills with unquestionable integrity
Effective communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to utilize time and resources effectively in order to meet multiple projects deadlines
Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills
Able to work in a cross-functional team environment
Sensory training, culinary experience, recipe development and tolerance testing would be a preferred asset
Experience managing a research and development team
