Logistics Manager Overview:

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain this position manages and oversees all transportation and traffic functions relating to freight movement within the organization from Vendors to DC, DC to stores as well as any other inventory or Non-Procurement goods that need to be moved
The Logistics Manager must be able to develop, communicate and implement Logistics Strategies (1-5 year horizon) as it relates to Transportation and Shipping, Inbound Freight and Outbound Delivery.
This would include overseeing all operational decisions regarding the Logistics Functions and ensuring appropriate policies and programs are in place so as to ensure that all costs, service objectives, and customer needs are met.

Responsibilities:
Accountable for performance of 35-50 employees including: motivating and developing team members by providing regular feedback and completion of performance appraisals process.
Create programs for hiring, training and development.
Coach, train and develop team members to maintain the highest level of personal and team productivity by ensuring strong technical skills and on-going product knowledge.
Ensure that team members understand and comply with company standards, policies and procedures including: health and safety, loss prevention, food safety and human resource policies.
Support Distribution Center Manager in shaping and implementing all of DC and Transportation initiatives that support the Genuine Merchant Strategy.
Develop and implement a complete Inbound Transport Strategy that maximizes use of capital as well as leverage 3PL contacts to ensure lowest costs possible.
Manage vendor maintenance relationships to ensure cost efficiency of transportation fleet, including: fuel, leases, repairs, contracts, 407 and temporary agencies.
Ensure positive customer service relations with a variety of internal customers (Store Management teams, Director of Operations, Category Directors and Supply Chain Managers) as well as, external vendors, Third Party providers and government regulators.

Qualifications:
Several years’ experience within the Logistics/Transportation industry within Retail/CPG
Post-Secondary Education in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Industrial Engineering or Finance is preferred
Professional Designation as CPIM, P. Log or CMA an asset.
Experience reading, interpreting and managing financial statements (P&L, Budgets, etc.)
Fleet operations experience & relevant experience managing Transport operations
Good understanding of warehouse, delivery and traffic operations within a distribution setting
Appropriate knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment, materials and supplies
Experience in Fleet Management including contract negotiation, Equipment RFP, Asset utilization and Prevent Maintenance program development
Knowledge of Employment Standards, WHIMIS, Food Safety and Loss Prevention practises
Knowledge of temperature controlled transportation and environments
Material handling equipment certification is a plus
Transportation Management Systems (TMS) knowledge and ERP / MRP system experience an asset.
